Yvette Howard — Former Mental Health Therapist turned Transformational Coach & passionate traveler, self-care advocate, and family time devotee.
How my journey began
For most of my life, I felt ….. insecure with my decisions because I always wanted things to be perfect, but I was also afraid that people would see me as perfect, and I never wanted to fail or make mistakes.
As a child, I was always taught to “get good grades, make good money, marry the perfect man, and never fail.” Naturally, I believed everything always needed to be “perfect. And that is exactly what I tried to do to ensure that my family would accept and love me.
Growing up, I was also taught to “give all my concerns and worries to God” and “never discuss family issues outside of the home, and I did just that too.
To be honest, I never knew anything about therapy until I started my master's program as a social worker. Once I received therapy for myself and became a therapist, I never turned back on “hiding” my emotions and feelings from anyone.
Just because I know so much about healing didn’t mean I was immune to struggling
As a guide and support for others, I put my own struggles aside. I became uncomfortable talking to people about what I was going through or how I felt. But deep inside, I felt the emotions taking over.
I should know how to get through this…but it was tough. And just like everyone else, I could not do it on my own.
My struggle was real. After my fair share of breakups, two that were very painful after long-term relationships —one was 6 years —I felt lost, confused, sad, and developed severe trust issues.
These feelings got so bad that I went online and read as much as I could, listened to podcasts, and even hired a matchmaker to help me find my soulmate.
Nothing worked.
A Journey to Healing and Freedom
It wasn’t until I sought professional coaching that I realized the problem wasn’t other people. Yes…even with all my training, this was a lightbulb- moment for me because it was happening to me. How could I not see it coming?
Through coaching, I accomplished deep inner work and soul-searching before I was ready to let any new relationships into my life. And we were not just working through romantic relationships. When I put in the work, I also realized how it affected all the relationships in my life.
Empowered and on a New Mission
As a Therapist, I was at odds with the stipulations of having to be licensed in all states to be able to assist and support clients who were not in my state. It was difficult to have to tell my current clients that I could no longer serve and support them after they moved out of state. – I felt this nudge about my next direction in life.
For the past 8 years, while transitioning from therapist to working as a Transformational Coach, I have found my voice, my mission, and a way to help others heal that feels authentic to my own life. I feel inspired and driven to guide people to focus on what they need first as an individual so they can find their happiness.
Better relationships with their family or romantic partner.

Being able to formulate goals that align with my values, being able to think about my future self and act in accordance with who I want her to be helped me to realize the strengths within myself and gave me more confidence than I've ever had with previous therapists/coaches.
Thank you for all the help you've given me. It's been truly life-changing.
